    Dakota Winds Golf CourseSisseton-Wahpeton Oyate

    Golf Course Overview

Adjacent to the Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel, the Dakota Winds Golf Course opened to the public in May of 2004. Designed by skilled and recognized golf course architect Joel Goldstrand, the course proves a challenging layout for the skilled golfer as well as an enjoyable experience for the beginner. Blending the natural beauty of the Dakota plains with wild flowers, ponds and creeks, the course provides a lush and beautiful setting for all golfers to enjoy.

One unique feature of this course is the back nine holes are reversible, turning the 18-hole course into two different layouts, the Sisseton Course and the Wahpeton Course. Golfers can play 18 holes on one day and then play a different layout the next day, all on the same fairways. The reversible fairways are wider and strategically placed, ensuring variety for a pleasurable golfing experience. Joel Goldstrand prides himself on the variety and individuality in each of his golf course designs.

Measuring 6,959 yards from the back tees, the Wahpeton course has a USGA slope of 128 and a USGA rating of 73.9. The course also offers four sets of tees so golfers of all levels will find it accommodating. From the front tees, the course measures 5,171 yards, carries a USGA slope of 114 and a USGA rating of 70.2. The Sisseton course measures 7,000 yards from the back tees with a USGA slope of 129 and USGA rating of 74.3. From the front tees, the Sisseton measures 5,157 yards, has a slope of 114 and a rating of 70.4.

Four types of grasses are featured throughout, including long prairie grass wild flowers, fescue rough, bluegrass fairways and tees, and bentgrass greens. The terrain consists of rolling prairie links with a host of ponds and creeks to enhance the beauty of the landscape.
