        Golf Course Overview

Located just across the street from Foxwoods Resort Casino, Lake of Isles opened in May of 2005. Spread over 900 acres with a 90-acre lake as a centerpiece, Lake of Isles will have two 18-hole courses, a 50,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, eight four-bedroom villas, and the Lake of Isles Golf Academy. Designed by Rees Jones, reputed as one of the nation's greatest living golf course designers, Lake of Isles will offer Foxwoods guests the ultimate upscale golf experience.

Rees Jones has designed and redesigned more than 100 courses, many of which are recognized to be among the best in the game. Son of renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, his remodeling skills have applied to seven U.S. Open venues, five PGA courses, three Ryder Cup sites, and one Walker Cup. He is currently ranked 22nd on Golf Digest's list of the 36 Most Powerful People in Golf.

Five different types of turf are used at Lake of Isles, with the tees, fairways and greens all planted with various species of creeping bentgrass. The two courses at Lake of Isles will consist of the Resort Course, or North Course, and the Private Course, or South Course. The North Course offers daily fees and stretches more than 7,300 yards from the back tees. Five sets of tees will be available to accommodate all levels of play. The South Course offers a challenging 7,300-yard layout to 298 members and accompanied guests. Five sets of tees will be available and the course conditions will be the best offered in New England.

The clubhouse, crafted from stone and stout timbers, is set deep into the side of a high hill overlooking the lake. With large windows offering extraordinary views of the property, the clubhouse will serve both courses. It houses a banquet facility capable of accommodating 300 people, a public restaurant and grill, a members-only dining area, a golf shop and locker facilities. Eight golf villas are built into the landscape, as well, with each consisting of four suites with full luxury baths and one common “great room,” which includes a fireplace. The Lake of Isles Golf Academy will be the most advanced teaching facility in the Northeast with enclosed instructional areas, videotaped swing analysis, and an indoor practice area.
