DURANT, OK – The Grand Tower at Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant is back open after a 15-month renovation.
The newly remodeled tower was taken down to the studs and given a complete overhaul to make guest rooms feel more modern and luxurious. The Grand Tower features 18 suites and 329 non-smoking rooms featuring spacious showers, modern furnishings and eye-catching artwork from Choctaw artists.
A majority of the 1,243 pieces of art throughout the Grand Tower’s guest rooms are courtesy of Sarah Sense, a Choctaw artist who focuses on telling stories of family history and Native experiences through photo-weaving. There are several other Choctaw artists whose work is showcased throughout Grand Tower suites and lobby. The renovation comes after Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant’s 2021 expansion that added the Sky Tower, as well as its refresh of the Spa Tower.
The Grand Tower was built in 2008 as the first of the property’s three towers, and it had not been remodeled since opening. As the resort grew and evolved, Durant’s Regional Director of Marketing, Kaley Green, said it was time to bring the Grand Tower up to the new, loftier standards.
“We felt like now was the perfect time to update the Grand Tower and make it feel as upscale and special as the Sky and Spa Towers feel,” said Green. “We want all of our guests to get the same experience no matter which tower they choose to stay in, and in the past few years we’ve really elevated what that standard of experience is. With the Grand’s remodel, we feel like we are now at an extremely high level across the board.”
Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant worked with JCJ Architecture to complete the project. The company has collaborated with Choctaw Nation on multiple projects in the past. The 2021 expansion as well as creation of the Choctaw Cultural Center and Durant’s Choctaw Wellness Center have created a cohesive design identity among Choctaw’s properties.
