NIAGARA FALLS, NY – On April 8th, Western New York will be in the direct path of a rare total solar eclipse, a celestial event that hasn’t occurred in the area in close to a century and will not happen again for another 120 years. Each of the Seneca Resorts & Casinos properties has planned special community events open to the public to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime event.
“The eclipse is going to be the event of a lifetime, and we want to celebrate with the Western New York community and those visiting from around the world in a way none of us will forget,” said Kevin Nephew, Seneca Gaming Corporation President & CEO. “From Niagara Falls to Buffalo to Salamanca, we’ll have something that everyone can enjoy as we all take in something we won’t see happen again until 2144.”
Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls and Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino in Salamanca will both host outdoor community events open to all ages from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Both events will feature food trucks, outdoor games and live entertainment.
The Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino event will take place in a viewing area set up in Seneca Square, located outside the resort’s 4th Street entrance, while the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino celebration will be located in the large rear parking lot.
For the 21 and over crowd, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino in downtown Buffalo will host an eclipse viewing party from 2:00pm to 5:00pm with outdoor games, live entertainment and food specials. The event will take place in the front parking lot. Lawn chairs are encouraged for comfortable seating, and guests are encouraged to dress accordingly for the weather, as all the eclipse-related activities will be outside.
The first 200 guests at each event will receive a commemorative eclipse T-shirt, and a limited number of commemorative viewing glasses will be available at each location while supplies last.
“Fun and excitement is what we deliver at Seneca Resorts & Casinos and that’s what guests attending our eclipse viewing parties can expect,” said Melissa Free, Chief Marketing Officer, Seneca Gaming Corporation. “We welcome our neighbors in the community, as well as those visiting the area for this occasion to share this once-in-a-generation moment with us.”
