LINCOLN CITY, OR – Chinook Winds Casino Resort’s year-long project to build and install a monument sign at the north entrance of Lincoln City is completed. The design of the sign began in April of 2023 and went live on March 13, 2024, when the sign lit up for the first time.
“The tribe and Chinook Winds executive management team have been working on the details for nearly a year to ensure it represents our vision of welcoming travelers to our beautiful community with up-to-date information,” said Tribal Chairman Delores Pigsley.
Located at the north entrance of Lincoln City, the sign stands over 50 ft. tall. Positioned on tribal trust land, the monument sign greets visitors to the area and offers a farewell as visitors leave the city. While the sign is providing information, final improvements are in progress and landscaping designs are to follow.
The sign features two 10’ x 17’ screens that will showcase upcoming events and activities. The monument sign offers the opportunity to collaborate with businesses and Lincoln City to enhance the visitor experience in the area and promote city events and festivals.
The monument sign was designed and installed by Ramsay Signs out of Portland, OR; site work was performed by local contractor Dan Kauffman Excavating; and survey work was completed by Cole Surveying out of Corvallis.
“We have a creative and hard-working team at Chinook Winds, and it couldn’t have been completed this quickly without their dedication to our goal of offering our visitors and locals up-to-date information at all times of the day,” said Harold Baugus, General Manager, giving a special thank you to in-house electricians Joseph Hunter and Matthew Hill.
A ribbon cutting was held and attended by the Siletz Tribal Council, Chinook Winds executive management, Ramsay Sign staff and city officials including the Lincoln City Police Chief, Fire Chief, Chamber Director and the Lincoln County School District Superintendent showing support for the addition to the community.
