TULSA, OK – Future leaders of the hospitality industry will converge at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa to participate in Oklahoma State University’s (OSU) Hospitality Operations Leadership program June 24-26.
The two-day program will highlight the practices of lodging, food and beverage, and other operations as they pertain to casino resort management. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from the industry’s leading experts about key strategies and best practices in the ever-evolving casino hospitality industry.
“We are excited to partner with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, one of Oklahoma’s cutting-edge casino resort destinations to bring this inaugural program to our new and seasoned industry managers,” said Dr. Brij Thapa, Gead of the OSU School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. “This is an opportunity to further develop casino professionals within tribal gaming enterprises with world-class training that the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is known for. In addition, there are also several other training opportunities in casino, gaming and resort management, as well as credit-based certificate programs offered.”
Speakers in the program include Cortney Norris, a seasoned hospitality professional and faculty member of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. In addition to her numerous publications and academic achievements, Norris has distinguished working career within the hospitality industry in key leadership roles in beverage operations management. She has held a variety of management positions at such properties as Excalibur Hotel and Casino, Bally’s, and Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Steven West, Hospitality and Tourism Management faculty member with a background in managing international hotels, will also speak. West has managed properties on three continents and held the position of hotel director for a tribal casino hotel in Oklahoma.
Entry and mid-level supervisors in the hospitality industry with direct reports are encouraged to attend.
