MONTGOMERY, AL – Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama (GSSA) held its eighth annual Leading Ladies Awards brunch where Stephanie Bryan, Tribal Chair and CEO for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, was recognized as one of six outstanding women who are making an impact in their community, as well as organizations that are advancing women in the workforce. Leading Ladies also serves as an important fundraising event for GSSA to continue to offer programming for the next generation of female leaders.
Associate Justice, Sarah H. Stewart, of the Alabama Supreme Court, gave the keynote address, referencing the Girl Scout Law to highlight the values that are central to the Girl Scout Mission.
Bryan was named the Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama 2024 Leading Lady. In 2014, Chair Bryan became the first woman elected to serve as the Tribal Chair and CEO of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. She has been committed to providing quality healthcare, education, and employment opportunities to Poarch tribal members, as well as citizens of the larger Atmore community.
In her remarks, Chair Bryan generously issued a donation-matching challenge in support of GSSA. All donations made to Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama will be matched up to $25,000. Christina D. Crow, partner in JinksCrow Trial Lawyers, was inspired by Chair Bryan’s gift to also match donations, quadrupling the potential impact.
