CORNING, CA – The Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation, in partnership with Tepa, has announced the establishment of the Paskenta STEM Scholarship, aimed at supporting students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This scholarship program reflects the Paskenta Tribe’s commitment to fostering educational opportunities and empowering future leaders in these critical fields.
The Paskenta STEM Scholarship will award a total of three scholarships, each valued at $20,000. Two scholarships are designated for Native American students, emphasizing the tribe’s dedication to supporting Indigenous youth in STEM education, while the third is open to students of all ethnicities pursuing STEM majors.
“We are excited to launch the Paskenta STEM Scholarship in collaboration with Tepa,” said Tribal Chairman Andrew “Dru” Alejandre. “This initiative underscores our shared commitment to nurturing talent in STEM careers and creating pathways for academic and professional success for Indigenous people.”
The scholarship is open to high school graduates and college students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in a STEM-related program at a university. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to contributing to their communities through their STEM studies.
“We encourage all eligible students to apply for this opportunity,” said Janet Jakobe-Gray, Chief Human Resources & Tribal Relations Officer of Tepa. “By investing in STEM education, we are investing in the future innovators who will drive progress and solve tomorrow’s challenges.”
