COURSEGOLD, CA – The Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians will host its Annual Hand Games Tournament from Thursday, October 3 to Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino. The event will bring together players from throughout the U.S., Canada, and Indian Country to compete in a series of traditional hand games over three days.
Hand games, also known as stick games or bone games, are a significant cultural activity among many Native American tribes. These traditional guessing games have been played by Native American communities for centuries and are often played at gatherings, powwows, and during special ceremonies. They are not only a form of entertainment, but also a way to strengthen community bonds, pass down traditions, and celebrate cultural heritage.
