ELK GROVE, CA – Approximately one in five Californians – about 8.8 million – currently struggle with food insecurity. To help address the critical issue on a local level, Sky River team members, along with matching funds by the casino, donated 900 pounds of food and $3,000 to the Elk Grove Food Bank. Team members donated to the cause during the recent holiday season, and the funds and food were donated to the food bank at a time when storage is light after the holidays.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sky River and their incredible team members for the generous donations collected over the past few months,” said Marie Jachino, Executive Director of the Elk Grove Food Bank. “So many of our neighbors are struggling to meet basic needs and facing hunger on a daily basis. We are ever so grateful to Sky River for their support of our mission, and we look forward to continued partnership to help those who need it the most.”

Responding to the growing need, the annual team member food drive generated more than double what was collected last year. Every dollar donated to the Elk Grove Food Bank provides two meals to feed those in need in the local community.

“Sky River Casino is deeply committed to giving back and supporting the Elk Grove community,” said Michael J. Facenda, President of Sky River Casino. “Our owners, Wilton Rancheria, have a longstanding partnership with the Elk Grove Food Bank. It’s powerful to see that now extend to our team members. Working together, we are making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
