PALM SPRINGS, CA – The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has introduced food and beverage sales tax grant programs for restaurants and bars on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation that are subject to the tribal food and beverage sales tax.
“We are proud to offer this inaugural grant program for food and beverage establishments located in the heart of the Agua Caliente Indian reservation,” said Tribal Chairman Reid D. Milanovich. “Many of these businesses are family owned. We are eager to help support local businesses through these grants.”
The inaugural Taxpayer Business Improvement Grant Fund offers up to $100,000 in grants for improvements to taxpayer restaurants or bars. Taxpayer restaurants or bars may be eligible for up to $20,000 in grant funds for improvements. There are two categories of grants:
- Increased seating capacity: Up to $20,000 per grant for increasing indoor or outdoor seating
- Beautification/Upgrades: Up to $5,000 per grant for updating properties such as for furnishings, lighting, facade and fixtures, marketing and advertising, signage or storefront improvements, equipment, and technology upgrades such as for point of sale (POS) systems.
Additional grants include:
- Restaurant Week Grant Fund: To encourage participation in local cities “Restaurant Week”
- Vandalism Repair and Mitigation Fund: A fund of $25,000 is established to be disbursed in grants up to $2,000 to taxpayers
