COARSEGOLD, CA – The Chukchansi Economic Development Authority (CEDA), the business arm of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians comprised of Tribal Council board members, has made a $6,100 donation to Yosemite Future Farmers of America (FFA). The donation covered all material costs for student projects, showcasing their technical skills, dedication to agriculture, and craftsmanship. The completed projects were auctioned off during the Yosemite FFA Boosters annual dinner event.
In a donation request letter, the Yosemite FFA Boosters expressed that support from the Chukchansi Tribal Council would not only contribute to the success of their annual auction, but also enhance the educational experience for students, equipping them with valuable skills for their future careers and lives. They emphasized that by backing these ambitions, the tribe is making an investment in the next generation of leaders, skilled professionals, and community members who will uphold and strengthen shared values of hard work, integrity, and dedication.
“We are honored to support the Yosemite FFA Boosters,” said Tracey Hopkins, Chairwoman of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians. “Investing in youth is a strategic choice to shape the future through empowerment. By recognizing their unique potential and power, we can create an environment that enables them to thrive, contribute, and lead.
Other contributions included a donated three-tier cake hand crafted by the artisan bakers at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, which was auctioned off to the highest bidder during the dessert auction portion of the evening (the Chukchansi cake raised the highest amount). In addition, the CEDA Board purchased two tables for the event, and Tribal Council in attendance consisted of Chairwoman Tracey Hopkins and Council Member Hillary Hammond Battles, along with their guests, which included prior District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler and the tribe’s Public Affairs Representative, Alex Tavlian, among others. All attended the annual dinner event to view the various projects and support the students directly. This contribution is part of Chukchansi’s broader efforts to support education and youth programs throughout the region, reaffirming the tribe’s dedication and interest in continued development, success and flourishment within their communities.
Yosemite FFA Boosters, based in Oakhurst, is a community organization that supports and promotes the Future Farmers of America program in the local area. Through various initiatives and events, the boosters aim to provide resources and opportunities for FFA members to develop leadership skills and pursue agricultural education.
