INDIO, CA – Fantasy Springs Resort Casino recently celebrated its Native American Day honoring the cultural heritage of the Cabazon Band of Cahuilla Indians and highlighting the resort’s commitment to its team members.
About 1,000 employees and their families attended the Native American Day event, which included a colorful light show featuring 500 drones set to Native American music and the telling of the Cahuilla people’s history, traditional performances, educational exhibits, and cultural demonstrations, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of Native American traditions. There were also dozens of vendors featuring traditional Native American dishes, artists selling jewelry and crafts, a zip line, Ferris wheel and other family activities.
“Our team members are the backbone of Fantasy Springs,” said Cabazon Band Chairman Doug Welmas. “It’s their dedication and spirit that make this place a community, not just a destination. We’re proud to celebrate their efforts every day, and we honor them by sharing our rich heritage.”
The celebration coincided with the 35-year anniversary of longtime team member, Joaquin Ortiz, who was presented gifts. He is the first employee to hit that milestone. Ortiz has been instrumental in the success of Fantasy Springs, contributing to the resort’s growth and development. His dedication is a testament to the importance of cultivating a workplace where team members can thrive for decades.
“Joaquin embodies the values we cherish most – commitment, excellence, and heart,” said Chairman Welmas. “We are truly grateful for his 35 years of service and look forward to many more.”
