TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN – The GATHER Veterans Warriors Heroes Foundation works as a major resource for veterans, active duty military, first responders, nurses and teachers, locally in Northern Michigan and nationally as well.
Owner and founder Hannah Bouwmeester and her staff work to provide vital information needed for area veterans – from showcasing veteran-owned businesses to highlighting stories and legacies to connecting with non-profits, events, and support groups. They serve to educate, inspire and encourage, and their foundation acts as a conduit to meet the needs of veterans in Northern Michigan and beyond.
Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos added to their funding with a check for $4,776 to help with their efforts to bring added cheer to area veterans and their families in the region with their new “Basket Brigade” program.
The money was raised through the monthly Cash In On Kindness guest collection initiative for October at both Leelanau Sands and Turtle Creek casinos, with guests donating their change for a change. The program, made possible through the generosity of the casino players, has collected over $115,000 for area non-profits.
Turtle Creek Casino, Leelanau Sands Casino, and Grand Traverse Resort and Spa are also working to assist area veterans through the month-long November Pints for Patriots “fun-raiser” to raise a draft beer in salute and support of area veterans with a portion of the proceeds from all draft beer sales and select dining options benefiting veteran organizations, which include: Reining Liberty Ranch for equine therapy and Thursday night veteran dinners; Charlie Golf One for affordable housing; and 22-2-None to prevent veteran suicide. Volunteers from all three organizations were on-hand today to connect with area veterans and celebrate with the GATHER Veterans Warriors Heroes Foundation.
