Harrahs SoCal giving back 2024

FUNNER, CA – Harrah’s Resort Southern California continued its charitable commitment on Giving Tuesday with a team of volunteers who actively participated in the global day of giving with a number of initiatives for non-profit organizations in the surrounding San Diego community.

With a turnout of nearly 140 volunteers each year, resort team members engaged in a variety of meaningful activities throughout the day, contributing their time and effort towards the support of several non-profit organizations in San Diego.

“The Rincon Tribe is thrilled to be a part of Harrah’s Resort SoCal Giving Tuesday annual charitable festivities,” said Bo Mazzetti, Chairman of the Rincon Tribe. “We are proud to offer a helping hand to our neighbors and communities throughout the San Diego region. We will never forget all the good our surrounding communities did for us in the past; moving forward, we are honored we are able to give back and help others.”

The volunteer activities included:

  • USS Midway – Resort volunteers assisted with ship cleanup and exhibit maintenance on the USS Midway.
  • Hashtag Lunchbag – Starting on the property, resort volunteers packed lunches that were delivered to Rincon Fire Station and Interfaith Community Services.
  • Helen Woodward Animal Center – Resort volunteers had the opportunity for quality time with puppies and kittens. Activities included assisting in the Education Department, working with the Orphan Objects ReSale Shop, and participating in the AniMeals Program.
  • Feeding San Diego – Volunteers assisted with various tasks at the organization’s distribution center.
  • Escondido EcoVivarium – Resort volunteers assisted with duties such as painting and general maintenance, with the added opportunity to bond with fascinating creatures.
  • Canine Companions for Independence – Resort volunteers partook in puppy showers, making up a dorm room for the next training class, and partnering in a canine training session.
  • North County LGBTQ Center – Resort volunteers helped make centerpieces and gift baskets, as well as decorated for the center’s ongoing events.
  • Quarterly Blood Drive – Held on property, volunteers could participate in their quarterly blood drive to give back.
