FUNNER, CA – Harrah’s Resort Southern California will continue its annual charitable commitments to Giving Tuesday (on Nov. 28th) with a team of volunteers who will be actively participating in the global day of giving with a number of initiatives for non-profit organizations in the surrounding San Diego community.
With a turnout of nearly 140 volunteers each year, resort employees will engage in a variety of meaningful activities throughout the day and contribute their time and efforts towards the support of several local non-profit organizations.
The volunteer activities and locations are as follows:
- Toys for Tots Drive – The resort will launch its annual Toys for Tots drive for resort employees to participate all holiday season long. Drive lasts from November 11th – December 10th.
- Wreaths Across America – On this National Day of Remembrance, the resort will sponsor the purchase of 100 wreaths to honor deceased military veterans by placing each wreath onto headstones in San Diego. Participating at the Valley Center Cemetery (28953 Miller Rd). Ceremony begins at 9:00am.
- USS Midway – 7:45am-10:00am: Resort volunteers will assist with ship clean-up and exhibit maintenance on the USS Midway. There is no volunteer limit.
- Beach Clean-Up – 10:00am: Resort volunteers will gather at Buccaneer Beach, Oceanside, for a beach clean-up. There is no volunteer limit.
- Hashtag Lunchbag – 9:00am-1:00pm: Starting on the property, resort volunteers will pack lunches that will be delivered to CalFire Pauma Valley, Rincon Fire Station, and Interfaith Community Services. Limited to 20 volunteers.
- Helen Woodward Animal Center – 9:30am-1:00pm: With this initiative, resort volunteers will have the opportunity for some quality time with adorable puppies and kittens. Activities include assisting in the Education Department, working with the Orphan Objects ReSale Shop, and participating in the AniMeals Program. Limited to 25 volunteers.
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Kearny Mesa – 9:00am-1:00pm: Resort volunteers will sort, organize, price donations, and possibly furniture assembly. Limited to 20 volunteers.
- Escondido EcoVivarium – 10:00am-1:00pm: Resort volunteers will assist with duties such as painting and general maintenance, with the added opportunity to bond with fascinating creatures. Limited to 20 volunteers.
- Canine Companions for Independence – 10:00am-2:00pm: Resort volunteers will partake in Puppy Showers, make up a dorm room for the next training class, and partner in a canine training session. Address: 124 Rancho del Oro Dr., Oceanside, CA 92057. Limited to 20 volunteers.
- Feeding San Diego – 10:00am-12:00pm: Volunteers will assist with various tasks at the organization’s distribution center. Address: 9477 Waples St., Ste. 100, San Diego, CA 92121. Limited to 20 volunteers.
