CHILOQUIN, OR – The Klamath Tribes last week sent a Type 3 fire engine and crew to assist with firefighting efforts in Southern California. The engine and crew departed Chiloquin last Wednesday at 11:00am and were assigned to the Eaton Fire, which was was estimated to be 10,500 acres in the foothills north of Pasadena.
“We had a lot of help here in Oregon last summer with our fires,” said Tim Sexton, the Klamath Tribes’s Wildland Fire Program Manager. “It’s important for us to help other areas in their time of need.” The Klamath Tribes have 14 fire-qualified personnel. All are available to support the Southern California wildfires, added Sexton.
Additional Klamath Tribes firefighters departed the next day as part of a joint Forest Service-Klamath Tribes engine crew. Both crews are equipped and available for 14-day assignments.
