More than 4,500 people were part of the largest Reservation Economic Summit (RES) in history, which took place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from March 11-14. Hosted by The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED), the 38th annual RES featured top speakers spanning federal and tribal government, business, entertainment, and fashion. The sold-out trade show included businesses from across the economic spectrum. More than 100 breakout sessions – also a record – covered the most important topics for businesses in any stage of development.
“The 38th Annual Reservation Economic Summit was a tremendous success, both in numbers and the depth and breadth of speakers and content throughout the week,” said Chris James, President and CEO of The National Center. “There is no doubt that RES is the premier economic development convention not just for Indian Country, but for Indigenous peoples across the globe. For four days, everyone experienced and was inspired by the strength that comes from unity. I look forward to RES propelling our work to support businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the year.”
RES had several Cabinet-level and senior government officials on its roster of speakers, including Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, United States Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai, General Services Administration Administrator Robin Carnahan, Small Business Administration Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago, and Treasurer of the United States Lynn Malerba. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Representative Mary Peltola (D-AK) delivered remarks via video.
Tribal leaders from across the U.S. spoke at the event, as well as actor Mo Brings Plenty, chef and restauranteur Sean Sherman, professional bull rider Dakota Lewis, and model and activist Quannah Chasinghorse. Fashion continued to be a focal point at RES, including the Indigenous Fashion Show and Networking Reception at the Omnia Nightclub at Caesars Palace.
The National Center also celebrated the 2024 class of Native American 40 Under 40 awardees during an evening reception. The organization also announced the winners of its 2024 Business Awards.
