SNOQUALMIE, WA – In a 7-0 vote, the Washington State Gaming Commission (WSGC) approved the sports wagering amendment for Snoqualmie Casino’s gaming compact, a major step towards bringing sports wagering to Washington State. The compact will go to Snoqualmie Tribe Chairman Robert de los Angeles and Governor Jay Inslee for approval, and then be forwarded to the Secretary of the Department of Interior for review. The Department of Interior has 45 days to take action or it will be considered approved and entered into the federal register.
Snoqualmie Casino will open its sportsbook pending the formation of the regulatory framework in conjunction with the WSGC and Snoqualmie Gaming Commission (SGC). Snoqualmie Casino began construction of their sportsbook at the beginning of June in anticipation of launching late summer. The Snoqualmie Casino sportsbook will provide sports betting enthusiasts the opportunity to place bets on their favorite teams in a multitude of sports without traveling out of state. The proximity of Snoqualmie Casino to the Seahawks and Mariner’s stadiums makes Snoqualmie Casino the closest sportsbook to the sports epicenter of the Puget Sound. The casino is actively in the process of hiring positions for the sportsbooks so they are staffed and ready to launch as soon as approved by the federal government.
“Through the hard work and collaboration of the WSGC, SGC and Snoqualmie Casino team members, we have made significant progress towards bringing sports wagering to Snoqualmie Casino and Washington State,” said Snoqualmie Casino CEO and President Stanford Le. “With this progress, we look forward to the possibility of opening our sportsbook by football season.”
