FLAGSTAFF, AZ – Apache Corners won the Arizona Association of Economic Development Golden Prospector Award of Merit at the Arizona Association of Economic Development Fall Conference in Flagstaff, AZ. This award recognized projects that significantly contribute to the overall economic well-being of Arizona.

Two weeks prior, the Tonto Apache Tribe broke ground on Apache Corners, a $200 million mixed-use development. The project will enhance the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino and include a family entertainment center, numerous restaurants, Heritage Distilleries’ first Arizona location, a health clinic/training center, grocery/supermarket, two convenience stores, and office and manufacturing space.

“The Tonto Apache Nation is committed to making progress to positively impact the region,” said Tonto Apache Chairman Calvin Johnson. “This is a true testament of economic sovereignty. The economic impact on the tribe is projected at $89 million per year. This will further diversify both the tribal economy and the shopping, dining, and entertainment options for those living in and visiting Payson and the surrounding region.”
