SAN DIEGO, CA – The 2023 Annual Native American Award of Achievement has been presented to Tracy Sam and Jason Cozart. The award recognizes outstanding contributions and commitment to the Native American community in the gaming industry.
Tracy Sam has been with Grand Casino Mille Lacs since its opening in 1991 and has worked her way up to General Manager. Sam has extensive knowledge of the gaming industry and puts the interests of the tribe and its members first. She values her family and associates who have become her work family, and maintains a strong work-life balance. Her work ethic is undeniable and she is an inspiration to all who work with her.
Jason Cozart has worked for Soboba Casino Resort for 27 years and has held positions in every department of the casino, currently serving as the Assistant General Manager. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Cozart provided constant updates to the Soboba workforce and ensured that his employees were well informed and supported. His honesty and immediate communication were greatly appreciated by his colleagues and made a significant impact on their well-being.
The Native American Award of Achievement is a new annual award presented to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and service to the Native American community in the gaming industry. The award was established on behalf of Imagine This and the Indian Gaming Association to recognize and honor outstanding individuals who have made notable contributions to the industry.
